Under the Olive Tree’s Bottle Refill Program

We invite you to join us in going green!
Under the Olive Tree will now refill your bottles of oil & vinegar! We are happy to present this opportunity to you and have a few requirements for our program.
TO REFILL YOUR BOTTLE:
– Clean your bottle manually or through the dishwasher with warm water and dish detergent (degreasing varieties preferred).
– Make sure you bring bottle back to either store clean & dry and free of residue.
– The original label must be left on the bottle when you return to refill.
– We will refill the bottle with the same kind of product. (i.e. vinegar bottle with vinegar refill, olive oil bottle with olive oil refill)
– We will provide new cork and label once refill is complete.
– You save .50 cents on every bottle you refill!
NOTICE:
– We reserve the right to decide whether to refill your bottle based on the condition.
– We will not refill a bottle if residue is visible.
– We do not take any responsibility for flavors mixing or residual contamination.
– Refilling is optional.
-Once a refill is completed, we do not accept returns, exchanges or refunds.

GRAND OPENING OF UNDER THE OLIVE TREE AT VILLAGE AT LEESBURG

We are proud to present the second Under the Olive Tree store located at the Village at Leesburg!

For the past two and half years, we have been working diligently to search for an ideal location that provides a one-of-a-kind shopping experience and artisanal vibe. This regional lifestyle center emanates a traditional main street feel and is defined by tree-lined boulevards and an inviting central plaza. Intricately-designed streets and layered landscapes work together to create scenic gathering places and timeless allure.

Our new location will be both a unique retail shopping experience combined with a small scale tapas cafe that will utilize the products with our family’s recipes to provide clients with a tasting adventure unlike anything in the area! Like our store in Tysons Corner Center, our store in Leesburg will offer tastings, workshops and even hands on cooking classes! We are excited to announce that this second location will be the epitome of a unique shopping and tasting experience!

We want to thank you for the loyalty and support throughout the years, it is a great honor to be able to make this dream come true and share with with our clients. We sincerely hope to see you at the Village at Leesburg! Details for our grand opening are below and we would love to have you join us!

Our tapas cafe will be inside our store which is set to open at a later date due to construction.The cafe will open its doors a few weeks after the initial grand opening and we apologize for the inconvenience this may pose.

The GRAND OPENING will take place at the Village at Leesburg with an official opening ceremony and ribbon cutting honored by the Mayor of Leesburg, Ms. Kristen Umstattd.

Under the Olive Tree on “On the Farm Radio” with Jessie Martin

Recently Under the Olive Tree was on “On the Farm Radio” with Jessie Martin discussing the popular olive oil controversy and how our mission is to provide the consumer with Ultra Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil and other gourmet products worldwide. Jessie Martin stopped by our location at Tysons Corner and held an interview basically asking the questions that all olive oil consumers should be asking…

1. Where should you be buying your extra virgin olive oil?

2. What should the packaging look like?

3. Who is selling you this extra virgin olive oil and what exactly do they know about their products?

Although, the list of questions are endless, the one major concern should always be how fresh the olive oil is depending on the crush date. The term “crush date” refers to the exact date that the olives were pressed and packaged which allows the consumer to find a valid expiration date as olive oil is super time sensitive! Make sure you tune into our interview to hear what we had to say!

Launching “Olives for Paws” at Under the Olive Tree

We will be launching our canine supplement line Father’s Day weekend! Please join us in our Tysons Corner Location to celebrate the addition of this supplement to our fabulous collection. Furthermore, we will be donating 10% of all supplement proceeds over Father’s Day weekend to the Gordon Setter Club of America.

Olives for Paws is a nutritional dietary supplement for your canine companion that assists in coat conditioning, as well as promoting a healthy coat by reducing the effects of dry, itchy skin. Our Organic Ultra Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oils are Veterinary recommended and are made of the highest quality, which is why we believe in the health benefits it can attribute for your canine. Extra Virgin Olive oil has three important chemical components: oleic acid, linoleic acid, as well as fatty acids such as Omega 3’s, Omega 6’s, and vitamins. Similarly to human benefits, the high levels of antioxidants or “polyphenols” found in EVOO help arm your canine’s immune system to fight off disease as well as provide anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to it’s internal benefits, our supplement is recommended for external use on your pets skin. Furthermore, by supplementing with extra virgin olive oil, we firmly believe you’ll be as pleased as we were with the results.

 

 

Recipe: Extra Virgin Olive Oil Dog Treats

This recipe was adapted from King Arthur Flour’s Dog Biscuit recipe which contains wheat, and no extra virgin olive oil. It’s been modified to contain olive oil, mostly organic ingredients and no wheat products.  Extra virgin olive oil has numerous benefits, including essential vitamins and omegas that assist with healthy skin, joints and overall health!


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup organic rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon organic mint, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 large organic eggs
  • 3/4 cup organic, raw peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup mild Extra Virgin olive oil, or 1/4 cup of our OFP supplement
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon cold water, or enough to make the dough come together
Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F. Lightly grease a couple of baking sheets, or line them with parchment. Mix together the rice flour, oats, mint, dried milk, and sea salt.  Add the eggs, olive oil and peanut butter, stirring to combine; the mixture will be crumbly. Add enough water to bring the dough together. To make biscuits using a dog-bone cutter, roll the dough about 1/4″ thick, and cut with a 3 1/2″ cutter (or the size of your choice). Gather and re-roll the scraps, and continue to cut biscuits until you’ve used all the dough. To make dog cookies, drop the dough in walnut-sized balls onto the prepared baking sheets. Flatten them to about 1/4″.  Bake the biscuits for about 40 to 60 minutes, baking the smaller cookies for a shorter amount of time. When finished, the biscuits will be dark golden brown, and will be dry and crisp all the way through. Remove the biscuits from the oven, and cool right on the pans.

Yield: about 42 larger (3 1/2″ dog-bone) biscuits, 60 smaller (round) biscuits.

TASTE OF DC EVENT

Under the Olive Tree is a proud sponsor of the Taste of DC Event occurring today on Pennsylvania Avenue to fight hunger! Our gourmet premium extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars will be utilized in the Celebrity Chef Showdown. Come out to support a great cause with us and with Taste of DC. Here’s alittle more about the event and be sure to check out their website! Taste of DC is a multi-day culinary and cultural event in the heart of the nation’s capital. This expansive festival packs five blocks of Pennsylvania Avenue with area restaurants, great drinks, lively entertainment, engaging corporate partners, and fellow Washingtonians and visitors. In 2012, Taste of DC featured more than 70 area restaurants and food trucks, 65 corporate partners, 3 stages, 35 musical acts, more than 20 culinary demonstration, and 60 beers. Despite often cold and rainy weather, nearly 40,000 guests packed the event to enjoy all that this storied event had to offer.
